Green Room was born out of late night jam sessions in Xela, the capital of the Guatemalan highlands. During a chance meeting in summer 2007, two travelers realized that they shared not only a love of music, but also New Hampshire as their state-side residence. From this point on, Fedor and Chelsea began frequent collaborations and soon thereafter added drums and bass to take their musical experience to the next level. Building on strong jazz fundamentals, the band has since charged full-steam ahead into the funk, blues, and soul genres. Influenced by the likes of Herbie Hancock, The Meters, Stevie Wonder, and many others, Green Room is also growing its list of original compositions and released their first album Highway House in April 2011. Stay tuned for a second album coming in summer 2012!
Chelsea Vario - Vocals, Flute Chelsea has been playing music since childhood, and it has always been one of her biggest passions. She was influenced by her family's love for music, particularly jazz, at a young age, and has spent many years refining her own style and skill. Chelsea loves expressing her emotion and life through the great gift of music, and she hopes that the passion she puts into each song can be felt by those who are listening.
Fedor Petrenko - GuitarInspired by a musical roommate, Fedor picked up the guitar in college and it quickly became his greatest passion. Captivated by jazz from the start, he has steadily evolved his playing into the funk realm. Some of Fedor's favorite players include Grant Green, Eric Krasno, and Trey Anastasio. Fedor currently studies with instructor David Newsam who teaches at Dartmouth and Berklee College of Music.
Alex Parker - Upright and Electric Bass Alex has been playing bass from an early age and studied music at the University of California, Santa Cruz. On any given day, he's likely enjoy listening to anything from Billie Holiday to the Allman Brothers to Iron Maiden. With his unsinkable spirit, Alex helps keep band rehearsals lighthearted and constantly reminds us, lest we forget, why we love to play music in the first place- fun!
Andy Koupal - DrumsThe latest addition to the band, Andy has a storied background on the Detroit jazz scene and worked for several years as a session drummer at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. When he isn't putting the stank down with his polyrythmics, you can find him making marvels at Simon Pearce Glassworks.
